William Travis Nelson (May 12th, 1946–Oct. 9, 2023), known as Bill, loved everyone, even the people he didn’t agree with. He was born in Sonoma and lived all over the state, but he built his family a home in Concord, California fifty years ago, a cozy place where friends could stop by anytime.
Here are some of his many roles: Vietnam veteran with a Purple Heart, bass in the choir, first carpenter, then superintendent, walking history book, poet, woodworker, mentor, prayer warrior, and grandchild cheerleader. Bill is survived by his wife Betty, their three children and spouses (Laura and Paul Magu, Travis and Ann Marie Nelson, Stacy and Joel Hernandez), and seven grandchildren (Aidan, Collin, Vivienne, Coco, Audrey, Diego, and Margaux).
Charitable donations in his honor can be made to By His Wounds, Inc.
On November 14th, 2023, we will gather to celebrate his life. Send an email to bill.nelson.memorial@gmail.com for more information.
