Victoria “Vicki” Joy Silva (Cash), age 73, passed away on September 23, 2018, in Concord, California.
Vicki was born on September 2, 1945 in Reno, Nevada, to parents Robert and Blanche Cash. Vicki’s dad, Robert, took a job at the Bradley Mining Company in 1946, which led the family to relocate to Concord, CA. Vicki would later graduate from Mt. Diablo High School in 1963 and went on to continue her education at Contra Costa College where she received her A.A. and graduated with honors on May 24, 1996.
Vicki began her career in County government on November 5, 1971 in the Social Services Department until transferring to the Human Resources Department on April 4, 1988. She retired from Contra Costa County on March 16, 2007 after more than 35 years of service. Vicki was a dedicated hard-worker, but her true passion was spending time with her family.
Vicki was a loving mother and doting grandmother who enjoyed family vacations and spending time with her grandchildren. Everyone looked forward to her potato salad at all family functions. She immensely enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Senior Center. They enjoyed traveling, playing Bunco, and Bingo. When Vicki wasn’t sharing time with friends, she was enjoying the company of her cherished and beloved cat, Ashley, that she adopted a few years ago. Vicki also enjoyed technology and could often times be found playing games on her iPad and Pokémon on her phone. Vicki’s family and friends will always remember her spicy personality and sharp wit. She was truly one of the most caring and giving persons that one could ever have the pleasure to know.
Vicki is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Donna Lindborg; her son, Michael Silva; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Rock-Menchaca and Isaias Menchaca; her four grandchildren, Danieal Rencehausen, Jiena Lindborg, Brandy Rock, and Dillon Rock, including Brandon Rock who passed away at age 3 and Justin Rock who was stillborn; her sister, Barbara Lawler and her sister and brother-in-law, Darlynn and Robert Evans; a host of nieces and nephews; extended family; and dear friends.
A celebration of Vicki’s life will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Summerset IV Clubhouse located at 770 Centennial Place, Brentwood, CA. 94513. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Vicki’s life.
