Uldine passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at the age of 93. She was born in Oklahoma on June 4, 1928, and named after a child evangelist. Uldine was one of eight children. Her parents were sharecroppers on a cotton farm. She, alongside her parents, brothers and sisters, worked hard helping pick the cotton.
In 1937 they came to California to escape the Dust Bowl and settled in Oakland, California.
Later she married, and raised a family of three, became widowed, then remarried and had two more children. Her favorite hobbies included completing difficult wordsearches, watching her favorite soap opera (Days of Our Lives), listening to country music, and eating sweets.
Uldine is preceded in death by her husbands, Ray Davis, Floyd Smith and Wallace Dean Shimel, and a son, Danny Ray Davis. She is survived by her sister, Billie Louise Barber, and her children, Belinda Franks, Frank Davis, David Shimel, Tammy Hurt and stepdaughter Deana Elliott.
Uldine was blessed with 5 children 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
