Terrance Patrick Murphy of Concord, California passed away peacefully at Kaiser Walnut Creek Medical Center on Sunday, August 22. Born to Bernard and Clara Murphy of Sydney, Cape Breton Island, NS, Canada, Terry grew up in Sydney and later studied at Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, NS. He also completed a CGA designation at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto.
When Hua and Terry met in Toronto, they decided that they could share a life together. Because they loved adventure, Terry and Hua departed for California in 2002 where they accepted new jobs and a life in California.
Terry never forgot his Irish Cape Breton roots. Cousins and friends will fondly remember his many exploits while growing up in Cape Breton. A prolific reader throughout his life, Terry continued to maintain a huge library until the time of his death. Terry is missed by his wife, Hua; his sister, Colleen Murphy and brother-in-law, Alvin Gallant of Upper Coverdale, New Brunswick; extended family in China; niece, Laura Kelly (Joel Cusson) of Madrid, Spain; nephews, Donald Kelly (Soseh Hovsepian) of Ottawa, ON and Michael Kelly (Alice) of Vancouver, BC.
