Rozalia Edit Hadnagy was born Rozalia Edit Kvanka in Budapest, Hungary on January 6, 1944. Growing up in post WWII Budapest, she experienced firsthand the lack of freedom that comes with a country under communist rule. After attending college in pursuit of her business degree, she set her sights on creating the next chapter of her life in a free country. At the age of 21 she married Louis Dalnoki and set out on the adventure of her life to fulfill her dream of becoming an American citizen. Not long after moving to America, she gave birth to her first and only son, Laszlo Dalnoki. Shortly after Laszlo’s birth, Rozalia and Louis separated, leaving Rozalia as a single mother who was determined and driven to provide a comfortable life for herself and her son in their new country. She juggled working multiple odd jobs as well as attending night school to learn the English language so she could earn her citizenship -- a feat which she proudly accomplished in 1970. Shortly after achieving her citizenship, she began a successful and rewarding career with Ettore Steccone Products Co. in Oakland CA. She retired in 2003 after 32 fruitful years.
In 1974, while residing in Concord CA, she met her second husband of 36 years -- Imre (Jim) Hadnagy. After an extended courtship they married in June of 1984. Through hard work, perseverance and grit -- traits that came to define the both of them -- Rozalia and Jim built an amazing life together, truly epitomizing the American dream. Through marriage, Rozalia gained two sons and a daughter -- Les, Brian, and Lori -- all of whom she lovingly raised as her own.
Rozalia enjoyed cooking, sewing, shopping, and dancing. She loved to travel, making frequent trips to Europe, Hawaii, and countless cruises to many different destinations. Most of all she loved being with family and having a good laugh with friends, and she always selflessly sacrificed her needs for the good of those she loved.
Rozalia was blessed with 6 grandchildren and she got the greatest joy from being a doting grandmother to -- Blake and Kayla Dalnoki, Sean and Emma Bernstein, and Savanah and Devyn Hadnagy. She loved to spoil them rotten with her cooking, gifts, stories, laughter, love, and of course… kisses.
She is survived by husband Imre Hadnagy, son, Laszlo Dalnoki and his wife Lisa, daughter Lori Bernstein, son Brian Hadnagy and her grandchildren
