Roselyn Clark Friccero

September 25, 1935 ~ November 29, 2021 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Tribute

Roselyn passed away peacefully in her sleep following several years of declining health. Her family was always with her in those final days.

Roselyn was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Her parents loved the outdoors, and she had many happy memories of camping and packing trips with her family to high mountains and hidden lakes in the remote Oregon wilderness. She graduated from Washington High School in Portland and went on to attend the University of Oregon, where as a member of Alpha Chi Omega she made several lifelong friends. She went on to raise three boys, with formative years spent in first Hermosa Beach and then Sunnyvale, California. In later years she re-entered the work force, working for several employers before eventually retiring from the Stanford Center for Research in Disease Prevention. In her final years, she moved from Sunnyvale to the east bay to be closer to family who could help care for her.

Her lifelong interests included gardening (especially roses), reading (especially English history), and the outdoors. Along with her mother and other relatives, she enjoyed collecting antiques, and treasured items which were passed down through the family. She was a world traveler, with destinations ranging from Europe to Egypt to the Australian outback.

She is survived by her sons Jon Clark of Sunnyvale; William Clark of Phoenix, AZ; Kevin McFarland and his wife Mary of Clayton, CA; her grandaughter Laura McFarland of San Francisco, CA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her former husbands Gerwin McFarland, Bill Clark, and Bill Friccero, and her brother Richard Welch.

A small private ceremony will be held at Gate of Heaven cemetery in Los Altos. In lieu of flowers, may we suggest a donation to any of her favorite charities such as the Wilderness Society, Defenders of Wildlife, Doctors Without Borders, and Amnesty International.
