Roger Vincent Harless
September 6, 1958-January 9, 2019
Roger Vincent Harless, a 29 year service member of the Contra Costa County Fire Department, passed away the morning of January 9, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. He honored life, his family, and his community, with unending love. Roger was all that was good and pure as a man. He was the purest in heart, a true gentleman, and a role model for any individual to look up to. He was hardworking and selfless, a firefighter and paramedic, a husband to his beautiful wife and the perfect father figure to his children, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. He set and exceeded the standard of what it means to be a good man.
Roger enjoyed his time being a leader and a teacher to anyone he came across. Whether it was providing guidance in the fire house, on the basketball court or soccer field with his children, on the golf course, or just about life in general, he had the purest of intentions in all that he did.
Roger Harless, Captain, Coach, Friend, Poohpop, Dad, and Honey, you were taken from this world far too early. There is a hole left in each of us that has ever been blessed by your presence, here, on Earth. You will ALWAYS be remembered, and NEVER forgotten; may you rest in eternal peace.
Roger is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Karen, his devoted children Jessica (Chris), Martin, Kelsie (Tyler) and his brother Paul (Laurie). He was the most loving Poohpop to Sophia, Claire, and Mattisyn. He is deeply loved by his mother-in-law Virginia, his father-in-law Fred (Carol), brothers-in-law Brad (Eileen) and Greg and sister-in-law Julie (Doug), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
