Rodolfo “Rudy” Monzon Tongson of Vacaville, California, peacefully joined our creator
on September 6, 2023, at the Paradise Valley Estate in Fairfield, CA, surrounded by his
loving family. He was 85 years old.
Rodolfo was born July 12, 1938, in Sta. Cruz, Zambales Philippines to Nicolas Liceralde
Tongson and Juana Maniago Monzon. At 20, he enlisted in the United States Navy in
1958 and served his country with pride for twenty years. His favorite tour of duty was in
Europe, where he became familiar with its people and cultures. Rodolfo served in
Vietnam at the height of the conflict there where he did come under enemy fire on one
occasion. Senior Chief Rodolfo Tongson was honorably discharged in 1978.
In March of 1965 he married the love of his life, Elenita, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church,
Quezon City, Philippines and were blessed with three daughters Jane Ellaine, Emelinda,
and Erica. His family was the center beam of his life and he was unendingly proud of his
three children. He was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give
them the life they deserved.
In his retirement, Rodolfo enjoys reading (daily newspaper and Time magazine),
watching sports on TV (an avid fan of Warriors and The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel)
and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He lived every day with
positivity and determination.
Rodolfo is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elenita Tongson (née del Fierro) of Vacaville,
CA; his children Dr. Jane Ellaine Tongson-Ignacio of Sherman Oaks, CA (Mario
Ignacio), Emelinda Tongson-Ruiz of Vallejo, CA, (Romeo Nelson Ruiz), Erica Tongson-

of Norwalk, CA and Dr. Sebastian Tongson of Union City, CA.
Rodolfo was predeceased by his parents Nicolas Liceralde and Juana Maniago Monzon,

A man who lived a life so beautifully must be remembered in the same beautiful way.
