Obituary


Brother Ternan Brendan (Phillip) Kneale, F.S.C. passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on February 22, 2018. Brother Brendan was born in Bozeman, Montana on March 9, 1919. His family moved to Los Angeles where he attended Cathedral High School. He entered The Brothers of the Christian Schools at Mont LaSalle, Napa and received the Religious Name, Ternan Brendan, and the Holy Habit on August 14, 1936. His tour of duty included Sacred Heart High School, San Francisco, Christian Brothers High School, Sacramento, and of course, his beloved Saint Mary’s College in Moraga. His complete dedication to the Brothers’ Religious Life and to education was evident throughout his entire life.

Brother Brendan was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Morris and Elsie Mary Kennealley and his brother Kenneth. He is survived by his niece, Nancy Laibson of Sacramento, and his nephew, Kevin Kneale of Los Angeles.

The viewing will occur on Friday, March 2 at 10:15 AM in the Rotunda of the Main Chapel at Mont LaSalle, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in the Main Chapel. This will be immediately followed by burial in the Brothers’ Cemetery and a buffet luncheon will be served after the burial ceremony.
