Patricia Lennon

Patricia Ledger Lennon, age 97, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2022, in Walnut Creek, CA. Pat was a resident of Walnut Creek for fifty years.

Pat was born in St. Louis, MO, October 9, 1924, to Alice and Jack Ledger. Pat was the second of three daughters. Her two sisters, Ellen and Nancy, were her two best friends throughout their lives.

The family moved to Port Washington, New York, while Pat was in high school. She graduated from St. Joseph College in Maryland and then worked for the Shell Oil Company at Rockefeller Center in NYC.

In 1946, Pat met Joseph A. Lennon, a graduate of Fordham University. Joe worked for Sinclair Oil Company, and even though Sinclair was a competitor to Shell, they hit it off and eventually married on January 6, 1950. They settled in Rockville Centre, NY, and had their first child, Nancy. 

In 1954, Pat, Joe, and Nancy moved to San Francisco, where her parents and sisters had already moved. Joe went to work for Shell in San Francisco. Soon, their second child, Mark was born. Two years later, their third child, Tim was born. 

As Joe’s career flourished at Shell, the family moved several times, living in San Bruno, Concord, Sacramento and finally settling in Walnut Creek in 1972. Pat and Joe joined the St John Vianney Parish, where they were active supporters and volunteers. Pat volunteered regularly at Loaves and Fishes in Martinez. Pat and Joe were married 62 years.

Family was everything for Pat. In addition to being very close to her sisters, she was devoted to her parents. There were many Sunday family dinners with her parents, and holiday meals with the extended family. 

Pat and Joe’s home was the family gathering place for birthdays, holidays, and other occasions. More than one of the children and grandchildren moved in with Pat and Joe for a period of months or years. Family was always welcome.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and her two sisters, Ellen and Nancy, and their spouses. 

She will be sorely missed by her children, daughter Nancy Hansen and her husband Jim, son Mark and his wife Maricel, son Tim and his wife Wai-Ping, her grandchildren Jeremy, Catie, Carolyn, and Stefan, her great grandchildren Natalie, Joe, and Jack, and her many nieces, nephews, and their children. 

Friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass, Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 10 a.m. at St John Vianney Catholic Church, 1650 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek, CA. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. 

Memorial contributions in Pat’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel.
