Orlando Raul Portillo, 88, died November 24, 2020, with his children by his side, in Concord, Ca. He has gone to join his beloved wife, Ena Gloria Portillo, 30 years to the day after she passed away.
Orlando was born on March 30, 1932, in Guatemala to Felix and Lidia (Godoy) Portillo. He came to the United States in 1956, and served in the Army from 1957 to 1959. He then met his wife, Ena Gloria Novoa and they were married on August 6, 1960. They raised two daughters, Sandra and Myrna, and one son, Edward. He was a Tool & Die Maker, and started his own business, ORP Tool & Die Company, when they moved to Concord in 1974. He lived in Concord the rest of his life, except for a 7-year intermission when he moved to Tualatin, Oregon for work.
Orlando had a passion for learning and music. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s recitals. He was known for his quiet and kind demeanor, as well as his quick wit.
Orlando was preceded in death by his wife Ena Gloria. He is survived by his three children, his sisters, Estela and Lila, and brother George, as well as several nieces and nephews.
