Mary Louise Francis

Marylou Francis, devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and a friend to all, passed away peacefully in Walnut Creek after a long struggle with esophageal cancer. She was brought into this world as a ray of hope to her family during the dark days of the depression and global turmoil. Her brightness grew from birth and shone throughout her life on everyone she met. She was raised in San Francisco, the elder daughter of Jerry and Grace Sullivan. Se attended St. Rose Academy and the University of San Francisco, where she received her Bachelor of Science in nursing.
Marylou's career spanned over 50 years, starting at St. Mary's hospital in San Francisco and finishing with the Mt. Diablo School District, where she spent over 25 years taking care of thousands of students throughout the district. Her work embodied her spirit of selfless service to others. Among her many qualities, her values were always on display in her devotion to her family, friends and her faith in God.
Marylou is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 ears, James H. Francis, her brother Tony, and her three boys, Jim, John, and Kevin as well as grandchildren Gracie, Johanna, Riley, Joey, J.P. and Colby.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. John Vianney Church in Walnut Creek on April 21, 2018 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted at USF Nursing School, PO Box 45363, S.F., CA 94145; or St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1650 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek, CA 94598.
