Lorna Diane Merrill, age 75, born in Wadena, Minnesota and raised in San Diego, passed away and grew her angel wings on July 31, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Lorna’s fierce devotion to God, her family, gardening, projects, and selfless giving touched everyone she met.

Lorna was an accomplished Human Resources professional with the Department of Navy and Veterans affairs for over 25 years; however, Lorna valued her contributions in lieu of her accomplishments. She opened her heart and home to all who entered. Lorna lived by the motto, “It is better to give than receive…and give double.”

Her laughter, intelligence, curiosity for learning, courage and love is her legacy and perpetuated by her family, including adoring husband, Gil Merrill, their children, Korena Stevens (predeceased), Theresa Azevedo, and fiance’ Steven, Tina Buop and wife Anna, Tim Buop and wife Lynn, and grandchildren, Mark and wife Katie, Alicia Azevedo and partner Carlos, Brandon Stevens and wife Micaela, Brianna Stevens and great grandson Landen.
