Kathleen (Kathy) Ruth Scanlan passed away peacefully on January 20, 2018 at her home in Walnut Creek, California with her family by her side. Kathy was born on November 6, 1936 in Oakland, California. She grew up in Portland, Oregon and attended University of Oregon. After graduation, she moved to San Francisco where she met Charles (Chuck), her beloved husband of 54 years. After brief stints in New York and Waterloo, Belgium, they moved to Walnut Creek and have been parishioners of St. John Vianney Catholic Church for over 43 years.
Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and would do anything for her family. Her kindness and generosity were immeasurable. Kathy loved her Oregon Ducks and Pi Beta Phi Sorority, was an avid tennis player, and never met a dog that she did not like. She and Chuck traveled the world together and have many wonderful memories from their adventures.
In addition to Chuck, Kathy is survived by her adoring daughters, Margie and Katie, Katie’s husband Chris, and her four grandchildren, Kevin, Michelle, Michael and Ashley. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Jane Dahl and her brother Joyle Dahl.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30AM, Friday, January 26, 2018, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1650 Ygnacio Valley Rd, Walnut Creek, CA.
