A native San Franciscan, Kathleen spent her early childhood years on Valley Street before moving to Day Street. She attended St. Paul's Catholic grammar school and high school in Noe Valley, followed by training at St. Mary’s College of Nursing. Her nursing career included positions at Kaiser on Geary in San Francisco; Letterman Army Hospital, S.F. Presidio; Veterans Administration Hospital, Martinez; and later in life her 1-week stints as Camp Nurse at Camp Concord in Lake Tahoe. She met her husband Jack in 1956 on a blind date and they married in January 1957. They started married life together in Daly City, CA and moved to Concord in 1966. A member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Concord where she and Jack served on the parish council, Kathleen was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, took great delight in composing the monthly newsletter as Secretary of the St. Bonaventure Chapter of the Theresians, and served as Treasurer of the Concord High School Band Boosters, spending many a Friday night counting money after Bingo. She loved traveling abroad and closer to home, particularly her trips to Tahoe with “my friend Ida”. We are grateful she was able to make her final trip home to her beloved home on Clinton Drive. The family wishes to thank Ani McGee for her compassionate care the past eight weeks.
A Rosary will begin at 7pm on Monday, September 20, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 5562 Clayton Rd in Concord. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 21, 11am at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. Committal to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1965 Reliez Valley Rd, Lafayette.
