Jean Fisher Harrell

Jean F. Harrell, 81, passed away in Concord on December 25, 2017. She was born in Ohio on June 30, 1936 to Elmer and Grace Fisher.
Jean and her family drove from Ohio across country in 1947 where she started the 6th grade in Antioch, CA. She graduated from Antioch High School in June 1954. After graduating from Kaiser Nursing School in October of 1958, Jean began her nursing career at Peralta Hospital in Oakland as a registered nurse, retiring from Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in 2001.
Jean married Richard Harrell in Oakland on September 1, 1962, later moving to Pleasant Hill in 1965 where she resided most of her life. She lived with her daughter and her family the last 2 wonderful years of her life.
Jean was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She loved to read, shop, travel, and throw dinner parties for friends and family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Paul Gwizdak; sister, Judith Fisher Hoye and grandchildren, Thomas, Kathryn and Sarah; preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Harrell and sister, Marian Alice Harvey.
A graveside service for all will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, January 19, 2018 at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Concord and a Celebration of Life immediately following at Endeavor Hall, Clayton.
Memorials in Jean's memory may be made to NORCAL Golden Retriever Rescue or Guide Dogs For the Blind in lieu of flowers.
