James Allen Rogers
Feb. 9, 1956 - July 11, 2018
Jim age 62, died suddenly in his home Wednesday, after several years of chronic heart issues.
Born in Huntsville, Arkansas to Rose (nee Ball) Rogers and Kenneth Rogers. He moved to Concord in 1965 with his mother and siblings. He was a 1974 graduate of Ygnacio Valley High School.
After surviving cancer at 19, he embraced his second chance at life. He received his AA from Diablo Valley College. He became a Sommelier, working many years in the wine industry. He also worked several years for C & H Sugar in Crockett, before health issues forced him to retire. Jim was an avid sports fan, cheering on local teams, especially the 49ers and the Warriors. He also never forgot his roots cheering for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and jokes, aswell as, his great wine recommendations. Jim was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Rogers, his beloved brother Richard Rogers, and his nephew Chad Rogers. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Rose (nee Ball Rogers) Hallstone and step father David Hallstone of Brentwood. His siblings Loren K. Rogers (Pearl) of West Fork, AR, Susan Kirby (nee Rogers) Kirby (John) of Concord, and Christine Hallstone of Concord. He also leaves behind 5 nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews, many aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, and his beloved cat Baby.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held on Thursday July 19, 2018 at 10:00am, at Ouimet Bros. Chapel 4125 Clayton Rd. in Concord. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in Jim's name.
