James Gerard Olwell, 58, entered into eternal rest April 15, 2017 in Walnut Creek, surrounded by his family; Born September 18, 1958 in Oakland to Harry and Jeanne (Neuman) Olwell.

Jim earned his BA in statistics from UC Davis and immediately returned to his alma mater, De La Salle, to begin his teaching career. That career spanned over 30 years, influencing countless young men and women in the classroom and on the athletic fields. In teaching, he found his passion, so much so he went on to earn his Masters in statistics and taught at Los Medanos College as well. Aside from teaching, Jim loved time with friends, Jimmy Buffet, laughing, the beach, his dogs, his bike rides, a good BBQ, watching sports, and his backyard. But more than anything else, Jim loved his family. His boys, the women they chose to share their lives with, and his bride were truly his joy.

James is survived by his wife of 29 years Wendy Olwell; sons Cameron (Lianna) Matthew (Jessi) and Patrick Olwell; brothers Kevin and Jack (Marilyn) Olwell; nephews Chris (Coral and Maya) and Steve (Kelly) Olwell.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister in law Gerry.
Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00PM, Monday May 1, 2017 at De La Salle, 1130 Winton Drive, Concord, CA. Per Jim’s request, the attire is Hawaiian shirts and flip flops. Please no black.
