Tribute

James Alfred Brasiel passed away Wednesday, January 12th, in San Ramon, CA  from complications following surgery.

Jim was a native of Contra Costa. He graduated from De La Salle High School in 1988 and earned the loyalty and service award.  As a faithful student of the Christian Brothers he earned a BA in Communications from Saint Mary's College of California in 1993. It was at SMC where he met the love of his life, Jennifer. They were married for 26 years and have a son, William.

Jim loved medicine and helping others. He began his medical career as a paramedic and took pride in being a volunteer flight medic for EBRPD.  Jim then earned his Masters in Health Administration from Saint Joseph's College of Maine and an MD from St. Matthew's University. After Medical School Jim concentrated on teaching. He worked with students at all levels and disciplines in the medical field.

Jim was a lifelong Boy Scout. As a member of Troop 832 he earned his Eagle Scout rank and his Wood Badge in Leadership. During his teenage years, Jim worked many summers in the medical facility at the BSA Camp Wolfeboro.  Nothing made Jim happier than seeing his son William enjoying Scouting and sharing a love of Camp Wolfeboro.

Jim is survived by his wife Jennifer and son William of Concord, mother Ellen Rea of Walnut Creek, sister Cathleen Anderson (Toby) of Irvine, brother Robert Brasiel (Michelle) of Pleasant Hill, and mother-in-law Karen Zilla of Rio Vista. He is predeceased by his father, William Robert Brasiel.

Friends and Family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday January 18th from 5-8pm, with a Rosary at 7pm at Ouimet Brothers Funeral Chapel at 4125 Clayton Road in Concord. A funeral mass and reception will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made in Jim's name to De La Salle High School, 1130 Winton Drive, Concord, CA 94518. We would like to thank all of the medical staff at San Ramon Regional Hospital for their dedicated care.
