The world has lost a joyful spirit, an uplifting melody when you need it most, and a beloved human being to all who knew him. Jack Elnathan Pollard, 71, of Concord, CA, passed away on September 28, 2020. Born March 26, 1949 in San Francisco, Jack traveled and spent time all over the United States and France, but always found his home in the Bay Area. Always quick with a full-bodied laugh, a scientific name for a flower or tree, or a lyric that perfectly complimented any situation, Jack warmed every room he entered and stage on which he performed.
Family was Jack’s “raison d’etre” – his reason for being. Jack leaves behind his wife of 24 years Jolaine, children (Nadine, Steve, Dave, and Tyler) and their partners, grandchildren (Nadia, Alexis, Dorian, Naomi, Liam, Elaine, and Luna), and his large extended family of relatives, musicians, dancers, and innumerable loved ones.
For those wishing to pay their respects, a viewing will be available from 12pm-4pm on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road, Concord, CA. The family will be holding a private graveside service at Memory Gardens, Concord, CA. A virtual celebration of life gathering will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Jack’s name to East Bay Center for the Performing Arts so that under-privileged youth can develop the love of music that Jack embodied.
The mere idea of you,
The longing here for you.
You never know how slow the moments go
‘Til I'm near to you.
I see your face in every flower,
Your eyes in stars above.
It's just the thought of you,
The very thought of you,
My love.
“The Very Thought of You” by Ray Noble, performed by Jack Pollard with the Thomas Bercy Trio
