Jack Ernst Mecklenburg

Jack Ernst Mecklenburg, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, entered into the presence of God on March 19, 2022. Born June 22, 1932, he was 89 years old. He left this earth doing something he loved and had done since age 16, lifting weights, and as the result of congestive heart failure. He even continued working out through his successful battle with cancer in 2015.

A native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Jack was a faithful Packer fan and made annual trips back to visit family and friends, watch training camp, and attend his high school reunions. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He faithfully attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for over 60 years and had worked as an electrician with IBEW #302 nearly all of his career. He was happily married to his loving wife, Frances, for nearly 55 years. 

Jack’s unconditional love, intelligence, wisdom, and gentle kindness are some of the things that made him the wonderful man he was. He loved to travel, truly enjoyed life and God’s creation, and was an avid gardener. He was a wonderful provider, protector of his family, and someone to be relied on during the difficult times of life. Whenever he spoke about anyone, he only had kind words to say. He taught us all to look for the good in people and circumstances and to trust God through them. He is greatly missed but lovingly remembered as a great man to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Frances; son Keith Mecklenburg; daughter Roxann Smith her husband Dale and her two children; son David Mecklenburg(deceased) and wife Angi; daughter Arlene Custock, her husband Curt and their 4 children and 6 grandchildren; and son Allen Mecklenburg, his wife Kathy and their 3 children.

A memorial to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4000 Clayton Road, Concord, Ca 94521
