Gene Charles Voltattorni, 70, passed away June 5, 2018 at his home in Rio Vista, California. Gene was born December 18, 1947 and raised in San Francisco. He attended St. Elizabeth Elementary School and graduated from Riordan High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1968-1972 and enjoyed being stationed in Ketchikan, Alaska along with Washington D.C. A retired meat cutter, having worked 44 years in Bay Area stores such as Lunardi’s and Andronico’s. He was known by colleagues and customers for his kindness and good sense of humor. Proud of his Italian heritage, he enjoyed fine cooking, wine and conversation. He was an avid Bay Area sports fan, whose favorite teams included the Giants, 49ers, Golden State Warriors and De La Salle High School. He never missed an opportunity to attend a game. He also enjoyed playing bocce ball and pool with friends. Gene was a loving, devoted father and grandfather, whose family meant everything to him. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gino and Josephine Voltattorni. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Joe and Joanne Voltattorni, brother Jerry; four children, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Marc Humbarger; son and daughter-in law Brian and Lilly Voltattorni; daughter Allison Christensen; daughter and son-in law Stefanie and Jed Paragas; Gene was a proud grandpa, “Nuno” to his eight grandchildren, whom he adored and loved spending time with: Santino Voltattorni (8), Ayden Christensen (7), Wesley Humbarger (6), Aldo Christensen (5), Natalia Voltattorni (4), Luca Humbarger (4), Emma Paragas (16 months) and Ava Humbarger (9 months). He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Vigil to be held from 5-8 P.M. on Wednesday, June 13 at Ouimet Brothers Funeral Chapel 4125 Clayton Rd. Concord CA 94521. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 14 at Church of Santa Maria 40 Santa Maria Way Orinda, CA 94563. Interment following Mass at Queen of Heart Cemetery 1965 Reliez Valley Rd. Lafayette, CA 94549. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
