It is with great sorrow that the family of Gary Dean Foster, announces his passing unexpectedly on Monday October 15, 2018. Gary is survived by his wife, Roxane; mother, Nancy; and step-daughter Maegan Tanner. He is preceded in death by his father, Gary Duane Foster.
Gary was born in Hutchinson, Kansas in May 25, 1966. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy. During the 6 years he served in the Navy, he was a submarine nuclear propulsion plant operator, and submarine nuclear plant emergency welder. He received several commendations including a good conduct award, meritorious unit commendation, first and second sea deployment ribbon, and Navy extraordinary medal. After serving his Country and being honorably discharged, he returned home to Kansas. He had many talents and worked in different industries in Kansas while expanding his knowledge of computers and programming languages. Making his way to California in the early 1990s, Gary worked for technology firms including Sun Microsystems, eBay, and most recently a consulting firm, New Context. He met his wife Roxane in 2004 and they were married in October 2006. They shared a life filled with laughter, good food, wonderful friends and family, music, and their beloved dogs. Gary was a devoted husband, son, step-father, uncle, and friend, an award-winning home brewer, patent holder, pit master, cigar and pipe aficionado, and Indian motorcycle enthusiast.
A visitation will be held Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Ouimet Brothers Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road, Concord, CA. The Funeral Liturgy will be on Monday October 29, 2018 at 4:30 PM at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 5562 Clayton Road, Concord, CA.
