Francina O'Sullivan

Francina O’Sullivan, a long-time resident of the Concord area, died Thursday the 13th of June surrounded by her loving family at the young age of 91.
Francina was born in 1928 in a very small town in Ireland, named Buncrana in the county of Donegal and lived there until she was 20 yrs. old. She emigrated to the U.S. in April,1948 and arrived with only $10 in her pocket! Her first job was a Nanny for the Dupont families three children in the East Coast. A few years later, she moved to Los Angeles and got a very good job at department store. She met her future husband Thomas O’Sullivan which was love at first site! Their first date was at an Irish club in LA. They got married February 10, 1961 after dating for four months and honeymooned in San Francisco. They loved the city so much that they decided to move there a few years later. Francina and Tom had three children, Tom, Mikey and Francina. She loved her family so much! With great strength she endured the loss of her son Mikey at the young age of 9 when he passed away from leukemia in 1973 and also the loss of her husband who passed away in 1996.
Francina loved spending time with family and enjoyed watching her favorite shows, Murder She Wrote, Judge Judy, and Columbo. She enjoyed great conversation, lots of quality time with family and friends along with the family pets, loved watching her grandchildren, listening to Irish music and socializing at all of the family parties. She had a wonderful smile that could lighten up any room. She was always up for an adventure, whether it was shopping, traveling or out for the day at Cache Creek playing the penny slots! She also looked forward to attending mass every Sunday with family and going out to breakfast afterwards. Family was always number one!
She is survived by her son Tom, daughter Francina, son in law Mike and daughter in law Sue and five grandchildren, Mikey (23), Shane (21), Tommy (21), Patrick (19) and Marie (16) all of whom have brought her great joy.
