Douglass A. Hieb

Doug was born in Oakland, CA, to Alvin and Lucille Hieb and was raised in Concord. He was a 1954 graduate of Mt. Diablo High School a 1956 graduate of ECCJC ( now known as DVC) and married Kathleen Narberes in 1961. Doug had a distinguished career in the Electronics Industry and was active in civic and community organizations. Doug served on the Concord Planning Commission, and gave 26 years to the Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS ) Program. He was also a founding member of Concord Athletic League and served on the board of the Concord Historical Society. What he was most proud of, however, was his 2 sons; he taught them about hard work, kindness and standing up for what is right. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kathleen; sons, Jerry (Susie), children Kelsey Langham (Ryan), and Josh of Upper Marlboro, MD and Rick (Tammie) of Highland Haven TX, and their children Kaitlyn and Christopher of Charlotte, NC; sister Carol Helzer & brother Stephen. Doug was loved by his “family of the heart” Jim & Sue Wild, Scott & Taylor Wild (Jasper, Sutter & Slater) Tom & Melanie Richards (Charlotte). There will be a private family mass at St. Agnes Church January 21. Burial will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Concord
