Donald Arthur Gillespie

Donald A. Gillespie 84, entered into rest on October 14, 2018 in Walnut Creek, CA; born July 6, 1934 in Alameda, CA to Wilford and Marjorie Gillespie.

Don was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He graduated in Business from the University of San Francisco, CA and was an avid “DON’s” fan as well as a Presidential Ambassador of the USF Alumni Association.

Don spent his entire career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and was transferred to Pittsburgh, PA where he became a life-long Pittsburgh Steelers Fan!! After an illustrious career with Metropolitan Life, he returned to his beloved San Francisco Bay Area to retire and to return to his roots as a life-long Warriors Basketball Fan.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Kay Gillespie, his daughter Maggie Gillespie and his two granddaughters Kaitlin and Sarah Burnash. Don is also preceded in death by his daughter Maureen Burnash, and is also survived by his sister Mary Suta and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30a.m., Friday, October 26, 2018 at St. John Vianney Church, 1650 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek, CA 94598.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (https://www.lls.org) in his daughter Maureen Burnash’s name.
