Daniel Ries, age 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, in his home in Clayton, CA surrounded by his family. He left behind his loving wife of 48 years, Christine, his three daughters, Jeannine (Sean), Amy (Rob) and Jennifer. He will be greatly missed by his four adoring grandchildren, Dominic, Zachary, Megan, and Lindsey – they were the light of his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy, Gail and Tammy and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was born on June 15, 1950, in San Francisco, CA. He attended Corpus Christi Elementary School where he met the love of his life, Chris. After attending Balboa High School he served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He and Chris married in 1972, and after completion of his service, they purchased their first home in Daly City and started their family.
Dan began his lifelong career with PG&E in 1972 “digging ditches” in the streets of San Francisco. He then became a welder, continued on to become the Superintendent of San Mateo County, and finally finished his career as the Compliance Manager for San Francisco. After much debate, he finally retired in 2014 which allowed him to spend more time with his family and travel with Chris.
In 2018, after much persuasion from their three daughters and grandchildren, Dan and Chris decided to leave their beloved “632” and move to the East Bay where their entire family was located. It was the best move they ever made. Dan enjoyed his park-like backyard where he and Chris proudly hosted countless BBQ’s, swim days and good old-fashioned family fun. His family was the most important thing in his life - it is what fueled him. He will be missed by all and will be in our hearts forever. #TeamChaos4ever
