Mr. Charles Q. Stanley, 86 years, of Concord, passed away at home on January 20, 2021. Charles, aka Charlie or Chuck, was a proud native of Oklahoma. The son of RB Stanley Sr. and Mary Alma nee Green. Charles was a fan of both the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants, he loved listening to Country music, fishing and frogging, gardening, and playing dominoes with his family, and he loved to tell jokes and stories. Charles moved to Martinez when he was 19 years old. That is where he met and married his wife of 64 years. Charles was a Hod Carrier and member of the Hod Carriers Union #177 from 1958 until retirement in 1991. During a recent EKG Chuck was asked how he was doing? He replied, “Like a brick layer climbing scaffolding with a hod on.” Charles was a life member and past worthy President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Concord Aerie #3279. He was the Chairperson for many fundraising events and dinner dances.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Pat, daughters Pam Martin and Carolyn Finnegan (Dennis), son Tony Stanley, daughter-in-law Terry Stanley; sisters Thelma Burt of Arkansas and Iola May Bridges of Oklahoma; Grandchildren: Brian Wied (Candace), Jamie Juster (Paul), Craig Martin (Denay), Alicia Whitehouse (Andrew), Michael Stanley (Heather), Chad Stanley, Kelly Finnegan (Megan), Chase Stanley, and Jacob Stanley; Seven great-grandchildren, dozens of loving nieces and nephews, and his Yorkies Sophie and Maggie.
Charles is preceded in death by his children Melinda and Mike Stanley, son-in-law John Martin, and daughter-in-law Cindy nee Kopcie Stanley, brothers Bob, Walter, Claude, and Ed Stanley, and sisters Lois Grant, Virginia Altes, and Iona Belle Malcolm.
