Charles C. Damianakes
Aug. 7, 1930 – Aug. 22, 2018
Resident of Pleasant Hill
Chuck passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 22, 2018 after a long illness. He was devoted to his family and they were with him at the end. Chuck grew up in Oakland and graduated from Oakland High School. He then enlisted in the Coast Guard where he served on the cutter “Gresham” during the Korean War.
He returned home from the service and began a 40 year career with Cal Ink. Starting as salesman he eventually became the Branch Manager for the Northern California division. He made many lifelong friendships with people he met at Cal Ink.
As a resident of Pleasant Hill for over 60 years, Chuck served as President of the Pleasant Hill Junior Chamber of Commerce in the 1960s.
Chuck met Soteria (Terrie) Nickas in 1954 and they were happily married for 63 years. His wife and three sons were the center of his life. He was so loved by his wife Terrie; his sons Chris (deceased), Dean and Peter; his daughters-in-law Amy, Mary and Karen; his six grandchildren Alyssa, Erica, Annie, Danny, Sophia, Joseph, his god-daughter Pam Irion and his brother-in-law Ron Dudley. He was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Anastasia and his brother Alfred.
Chuck was a wonderful friend, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, nephew and coach to countless people. He also loved to travel and he and Terrie took many trips across the United States and Europe. Chuck loved golf and regularly played into his eighties. He coached his sons’ baseball teams and loved to watch his grandkids participate in sports and the performing arts. Chuck was a devoted Giants and Forty-Niner fan.
