Tribute
On December 16, Joe Bristol went to be with the Lord in heaven.
Joe was born to Elmer and Jewel Bristol on Aug. 19, 1940 in Oklahoma. The family relocated to Bay Point (West Pittsburg or Bella Vista) with his parents and two sisters and two brothers.
He attended Pacifica High School where he played football, basketball and track. He graduated in 1958. One year later he married Mardell and was marred to her for 59 years before his death. Joe continued playing basketball for the Industrial League.
He had a great love for hunting and fishing and has passed that love onto grandsons.
He was co-founder of Concord Athletic League; serving as soccer director and board member. He coached youth soccer and baseball for many years including one of his grandson’s teams. One of his favorite pastimes was watching youth sports.
In 1976 the Bristol family purchased Roto-Rooter Plumbers franchise in the bay area and operated it until October of this year. He also sat on the National RRFA board of directors and was a long-time member of that association.
In the early 80’s he purchased a coin shop with his broth-in-law which culminated from a long-time interest in coins.
Joe was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and served on their church board. He started attending Bay Church, which he loved, many years ago. He helped with the Church’s crab feed and supported many other functions.
Joe loved Concord and lived there for 51 years. He is survived by his wife, Mardell; four sons, Gary, Jerry. Mark and Brian and one sister Wanda Gibbs. He is grandfather to 13 and great grandfather to 12.
This man lived a wonderful life and will always be close to our hearts and minds.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00PM, Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road, Concord, CA 94521. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, January 4, 2019 at The Bay Church, 4725 Evora Road, Concord, CA 94519. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Concord.
