Amelia Manalo Milo, 77, of Concord, Ca, peacefully passed away on August 26, 2023 at Concord Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Amelia was born on May 28, 1946 to Baldomero and Angeles Manalo in Atimonan, Quezon Philippines and raised by her Aunt, Remedios "Reming" Valenzuela. She was the youngest of three children and adored by her two older brothers, Leonardo and Norberto Manalo.
After Amelia graduated from high school she went on to study at Santa Rita College in Manila where she earned a Bachelor in Science in Education. Amelia loved the Lord with all her heart, even more than any suitor courting her in the Philippines. So after she graduated from college, Amelia decided to follow her heart and join a convent. But prior to joining a convent, her Aunt Reming wanted her to see the world and sponsored a trip to Europe and Canada for Amelia in 1972. It was on this trip Amelia happened to meet the love of her life, Delfin Milo, in Canada at the discotheque. Amelia described her future husband as a quiet and mysterious sailor that intrigued her and became her heart.
In November 1972, Amelia and Delfin married in a civil union in Victoria, B.C. and renewed their vows before God in a church wedding in Canada on June 23, 1973. They went on to have 5 children, but sadly, only 2 children survived. They welcomed Beverly in 1976 and Jeffrey in 1979 and both became Amelia's whole world.
When Amelia retired, she enjoyed spending her time praying, attending church, cheering on her beloved San Francisco 49ers and Golden State Warriors, visiting casinos with her husband and siblings, eating Nacho Supremes from Taco Bell, and most of all, visiting and calling her grandchildren. It was her grandchildren Amelia found the drive to fight and will to live despite her multiple ailments because she often stated “I want to watch them grow.”
Amelia was predeceased by her parents, Baldomero and Angeles Manalo; aunt, Remedios Valenzuela; brothers, Leonardo and Norberto Manalo; sister-in-law, Adelaida Manalo; father-in-law, Fabio Milo; mother-in-law, Dolores Milo; brothers-in-law, Andy and Domingo Milo; sister-in-law, Violeta Novencido; nephews, Buen Manalo and Mike Milo; niece, Michelle Javier. Amelia is survived by her husband of 50 years, Delfin Milo of Concord, Ca; daughter, Beverly Espineli (Jerry) of Concord, Ca; son, Jeffrey Milo (Jasmine) of Pittsburg, Ca; grandchildren, Jacob Milo, Lawrence Espineli, Robyn Espineli, Joshua Milo and Naomi Milo; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
