Surrounded by his family, Bill passed away peacefully at his home on March 26, 2017.
Bill was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 17, 1929 to Michael Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Jordan. He came to California in 1947 to attend St.Mary's College where he met the love of his life, Theresa Austria. They were married on January 20, 1951 and were blessed with 68 wonderful years together.
Earning a degree in Economics, Bill graduated from St. Mary’s College in 1951. He then went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Administration Supervision at Loyola University in Chicago. In 1983, Bill retired after a 30 year career as a distinguished leader with the Walnut Creek School district as the assistant superintendent of schools. Bill, known for his dynamic and charismatic personality, was a loyal member of a fellowship for over 35 years, where he unselfishly devoted in his time to the service of others. He was Bay Area sports enthusiast with tremendous passion for the St. Mary’s College Gaels Basketball team where he and his wife Theresa held season tickets for over 50 years, and were honored as Fans of the year.
Bill enjoyed spending time at his vacation homes in Lake Tahoe and Palm Springs as well as traveling the world; He was a legend in the eyes of his family and many others because of his family first belief system, his tireless work ethic, and his unwavering faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ.
His legacy will be passed on, shared, and celebrated by his survivors: his wife Theresa, his eight children: Kathleen Burke (Pat), Julie Jordan, Michael Jordan, Mary Beth Perez (Marvin), Christine Evans (Bill), Rita Scheflo (Mitch), William Jordan (Kate)and James Jordan (Susan); his brother James Jordan (Mary Ellen), his sister Michelle Jordan, the Austria family, Alice, Mary Lou, Ray, and Olivia,and his 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
