A brilliant and creative mind dimmed by the effects of Parkinson’s Disease was silenced May 2, 2017, when the heart gave out.
Born to Carl and Doris Dortzbach on Feb. 16, 1936, in Centralia, WA. The first of six children, sisters Shirley, Doris Ann, Joan, and Carla (all deceased). Surviving sister Mary Lou (Pepe) Tarango who reside in Citrus Heights.
Dick moved to Concord in 1952, Graduated from Mt. Diablo High in 1954.
The summer of 1953 he met Wrenetta “Skeets” at an Ice Cream Shoppe where she had taken a job for the summer. Love blossomed and they married on July 17, 1954.
Dick’s entire working career was in the metal fabrication related industry. Dick owned and operated Contra Costa Metal Fab. until he sold in 1996. He then co-operated Flo-Dor and Assoc. retiring in 1999.
If Dick wasn’t creating in his shop, spending time with his family, he would be found duck hunting or sharing his love of boating on Lake Shasta.
Survived by his loving family, wife “Skeets”, daughter Linda Hudlin (Jim), son Richard, Son in law Wayne Hudlin, Grandchildren, Clayton Dortzbach, Shane (Cristina) Hudlin, Tara (Zac) Smith and, Great-grandchildren, Papas’ “Apple Blossom” Summer Hudlin, and Malcolm Smith. Many nieces, nephews and close friends.
