Mike passed away at home on January 19, 2017. He leaves behind his daughter Melissa (Derek) Pilch, son Michael (Angela) Kelly and their mother, Julia Kelly. Mike also leaves behind his grandchildren Andrew, Julia and Trevor Pilch and Athena, Octavia and Apollo Kelly as well as his sisters Carol Griffin and Patricia Shea.

Mike was born and raised in San Francisco, and lived in the City until he started a family. Mike proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He lived in Concord for the past 46 years.

Mike loved bowling, the horse races at Golden Gate Fields, fishing, camping and he was an avid Giants fan. He taught at Pleasant Hill and Ygnacio Valley High Schools and retired as Vice Principle of Ygnacio Valley High School.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 30, 2017 with a Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon at Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road, Concord, CA 94521. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lafayette, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ASPCA will be appreciated.
