John was born on June 21, 1965 in Oakland, Ca to Leland and Barbara Maes.

He is survived by his wife Maryann, children Andrew and Lauren, his sisters, Debbie Maes, Carol (Ed) Knight, Robin Beveridge, and brother Leland Maes. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

John was outgoing, and his personality was larger than life. He loved coaching his children’s sports, and was the ultimate Raider fan. John knew no strangers, only friends he hadn’t met.

Please join John’s family for a liturgy at Christ the King Church, 199 Brandon Road, Pleasant Hill, Ca 94523, on Friday, November 10th at 6pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to Ronald McDonald House or St. Jude for children.
